  1. Wonderful selection of books on writing. Thank you! I would add two more, of the many that abound. One Writer’s Beginnings (1983) by Eudora Welty and If You Want To Write (1938) by Brenda Ueland. Ms. Ueland wrote a column for the Minneapolis Times newspaper in the 1940’s when my mother, the woman who introduced me to a lifelong love of language and words, also wrote a column there. Mom gifted me with this book and the inscription: “Why write? Words last. People don’t.”
