Screenwriter and screenplay editor/consultant Johnnie Mazzocco’s passion is narrative and storytelling, whether it’s her own fiction and screenplays or helping others conceive, write, and refine so they can share their stories with the world. Believing a stifled voice to be tragic, she is driven to help others tell their stories in the most effective and arresting way possible.
Johnnie works with those new to the industry, as well as established screenplay writers such as Larry Ferguson, Susan Emschwiller, and Kelly Baker.
Johnnie has a B.A. in Fiction Writing, a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies, an M.A. in English/Film Studies, and an M.F.A. in Digital Arts. As a college professor, she taught a variety of writing classes for over ten years and media arts classes for over five years. She is a published fiction writer, and her feature film, Found Objects, which she wrote, produced, directed, and edited, is in post-production. Her screenplay for Found Objects placed in the semi-finals at the Moondance Film Festival in 2011.
Johnnie’s strengths, with regard to screenwriting and screenplay editing and consulting, include story arc, character development, and dialogue, and she takes great pleasure in the nuts and bolts of spelling, grammar, and formatting.
Her strengths in working with people and the characters they create come from her profound understanding of the human condition, her intuitiveness, and her signature, perfect blend of compassionate pragmatism, always remembering the human heart behind the words on the page.
